n Saturday, April 9, 2022, The Hoosier Corvette Club will be making a donation to the American Legion: Operation Comfort Warriors. We were able to make this donation thanks to our 2021 Club Sponsors and the Men and Women of the Hoosier Corvette Club. The club members worked tirelessly, in putting on two Car Shows during the 2021 year.<\/span><\/p>\nOperation Comfort Warriors is a program dedicated to meeting the needs of wounded, injured or ill military personnel by providing them with comfort items not usually supplied by the government. OCW ensures that patients at U.S. military hospitals and warrior transition units are given items like sweat suits, DVDs, puzzles, electronic devices, books, calling cards and more. OCW also provides larger items such as ping pong tables, entertainment centers, computers, kayaks and other recreational goods for use by wounded warriors in common areas.<\/p>\n

A check in the amount of $6000, will be presented by our Club President, Kent Krimmel, at the American Legion, Department of Indiana Spring Conference held in Indianapolis, IN.<\/p>\n

The Hoosier Corvette Club also awarded three $500 Scholarships in memory of two Hoosier Corvette Club members and the son of another club member. These were awarded in the names of Jeff Gaer (Racer)<\/strong> and Bruce Reed,<\/strong> both long time members of HCC and the NCCC. The third Scholarship was awarded in the name of Justin Graves<\/strong>, the son of HCC’s Governor Becky Graves and her husband Jack.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Hubler Chevrolet, Jones Barber Shop, Rick Campbell Builders, Distinctive Kitchen & Bath, Kennedy Tank & Mfg., Mid State Manufacturing, Natural Stone Creations, Quality Mill Supply Company, Inc. and Foley’s Custom Concrete Finishing.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For over 40 years, <\/strong>the Indiana State Police has offered young people an exciting, up-close look at law enforcement and the criminal justice system through its youth camps. The camps help students gain respect for themselves and others through programs that demonstrate the rewards of hard work and dedication.<\/p>\n Camps are held at universities around the state and offer campers a unique glimpse of campus life. Each program includes well-balanced meals and comfortable sleeping facilities. Camp staffs are hand-picked, responsible law enforcement personnel, who have committed themselves to preparing today’s youth for their futures.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On Thursday, February 23rd, The Hoosier Corvette Club presented a check in the amount of $3000 to the Indiana State Police Summer Camp Program. Accepting the check on behalf of the Indiana State Police were Senior State Trooper John Clawson and Sgt. Seth Tumey. Presenting the $3000 check were club members: (kneeling l-r) Ron Haboush, Rick Smetana; (standing l-r) Tim Fortner, Tarie Fortner, Paul Evans, Kent Krimmel, Becky Graves, Brad Pearson, Jackie Graves, and stading outside of the two ISP patrolmen, Mark Powers.<\/p>\n Hubler Chevrolet, Natural Stone Creations, Quality Mill Supply Company, Inc. and Foley’s Custom Concrete Finishing.<\/p>\n Without the assistance of these, our 2022 sponsors, The Hoosier Corvette Club would not be able to give back to the community and help those in need. We really appreciate our sponsors for their help.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For 2023, the Hoosier Corvette Club has selected Indy Honor Flight for its charitable organization. We hope to provide some support to this fantastic organization.<\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight transports WWII, Korea and Vietnam veterans to see their memorials in Washington, D.C.\u00a0 For free!<\/em><\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor Indiana\u2019s veterans for their service and sacrifice.\u00a0 Top priority is given to the oldest veterans.\u00a0 Our goal is to get the most senior veterans to visit the memorials built for them before it is too late.\u00a0 We also give priority to terminally ill veterans.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n On February 9th, 2024, The Hoosier Corvette Club presented a check in the amount of $5,000 to the Indy Honor Flight, which will allow five (5) WWII, Korean and Vietnam Veterans to visit the Washington DC’s Veteran’s Memorials built in their honor.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n For 2024, the Hoosier Corvette Club has again selected Indy Honor Flight as its charitable organization. HCC believes the Indy Honor Flight is a well deserving recipient for the work and assistance they provide our American Veterans, The Hoosier Corvette Club has had two members, who have made the trip to Washington D.C. and enjoyed the trip immensely and as of the first of the year, another two that are getting that opportunity in 2026.<\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight transports All<\/span> Indiana Veterans to see the memorials built in their honor in Washington, D.C.\u00a0 <\/span>For free!<\/span><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight was created solely to honor Indiana\u2019s veterans for their service and sacrifice.\u00a0 Top priority is given to the oldest veterans.\u00a0 Our goal is to get the most senior veterans to visit the memorials built for them before it is too late.\u00a0 We also give priority to terminally ill veterans.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Speaking of our mission, many people say, \u201cit is a day trip, what is the big deal?\u201d You only have to look at the smiles and happy tears we see on every flight to know an Honor Flight makes a difference to these men and women who served us. A veteran from our October flight called Sunday morning after the flight and said he just \u201chad the first sound nights sleep I have had in over 55 years\u201d. Folks, you cannot buy results like that! We are humbled to know our work can affect these warriors this way.<\/span><\/p>\n \u00a0Once again, thank you to all who are a part of the Indy Honor flight. HCC believes the Indy Honor Flight is a well deserving recipient for the work and assistance they provide our American Veterans, The Hoosier Corvette Club has had two members, who have made the trip to Washington D.C. and enjoyed the trip immensely.<\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight Board of Directors has recently changed the eligibility dates for Veterans to fly with Honor Flights.\u00a0 We will now accept Veteran applications for anyone who served in any location\/branch\/assignment between\u00a0December 1941 and May 1975<\/strong> and transport them to see the memorials built in their honor in Washington, D.C.\u00a0\u00a0For free!<\/strong><\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight is a non-profit organization created solely to honor Indiana\u2019s veterans for their service and sacrifice.\u00a0 Top priority is given to the oldest veterans.\u00a0 Our goal is to get the most senior veterans to visit the memorials built for them before it is too late.\u00a0 We also give priority to terminally ill veterans.<\/p>\n Indy Honor Flight has four (4) 2026 flight dates reserved; April 11th<\/sup>, May 30th<\/sup>, September 19th\u00a0and\u00a0October 17th<\/strong>, so mark your calendars so you don\u2019t miss a minute of our events. We will hold more volunteer safety trainings prior to these flights, so if you know of people who want to get involved, have them watch our Facebook page and website in 2026. We always need more volunteers, donors and other support.
